With Financial Assistance from NCDC of DGHS, MoHFW of Bangladesh Govt. and with the Technical Assistance of World Health Organization (WHO), Bangladesh). Through the project of MK4C (Moner Khabor Four Cares), Moner khabor heartily and honestly is trying to reduce the treatment gap of mental disorders in Bangladesh as far as possible. By using the digital facilities, Moner khabor will try to reach remote people as well as those who do not get proper assistance to avail mental health service.

HISTORY AND VISION

Media Section

From the beginning of this century we realized that in our country people are less aware about mental health when we worked with different subjects. Working with different mainstream Medias we realized they weren’t interested on this particular topic at that time. Even many weren’t interested to perform or celebrate world mental health day programs. Moreover they rejected proposals to print any writings on behalf of this particular topic. After trying for couple of years with the help of ‘Action Aid Bangladesh’ we succeeded to air a program on Channel I in 2005, that was the first ever celebration of world mental health day by any TV in Bangladesh. I, worked as coordinator and anchor at the show, `o mon monre’, which ran for next 3 years in a row. Still other medias didn’t even paid interest to write any articles about mental health. At that time we decided to create a website in which we could store all the information regarding mental health services available in Bangladesh, so people could get help in any kind of mental health issues from any corner of our country. As a result we created a website naming Moner Kotha in which we uploaded all the information about doctors, where their chambers are, where people could get help in any governmental and nongovernmental hospitals. After a bit we realized no one bothered to saw or following that website. Later, we used to upload written contents about mental health on Moner Kotha. Even that wasn’t enough. We then began to think where we all could write, raise awareness including other approaches. To highlight all the news, features, translations, researches on mental health of the world including Q&A’s. Then we changed our name from Moner Kotha to Moner Khabor and started our voyage, which inaugurated in 19th December 2014. After that we started English version from December in 2016 & Monthly magazine from December 2017. By Starting bangle news portal, English news portal and monthly printed magazines people began to gain interest in this matter. We realized people were getting more information than before on mental health. Besides we also realized that other media are also paying attention and they started broadcasting of several programs and writings. We tried and invited people who write on mental health issues to send their writings. We were getting many responses and three medias of Moner Khabor started to work quite well at a pace. Moreover Monthly magazine of Moner Khabor had been publishing on a particular matter from the beginning, which created a new dimension and people were getting benefited.

Taking the advantage of online and by the help of internet to take the issue of mental health awareness one step further, we started to work of Moner Khabar Online TV in December 2019, which acted as a very useful and necessary step during the Corona period (Covid19 Pandemic). In addition Moner Khabor Youtube was created where videos were uploaded related to mental health. Nowadays Media section of Moner Khabor is working on every aspect to increase awareness on mental health.

Service Section

The ultimate motive of developing the media or media section was to increase awareness on mental health for receiving the right treatment. Creating an environment to overcome various social or environmental barriers related to mental health, including common prejudices, over-treatment, and proper management. In the long journey of Moner Khabar, we collaborated with almost all levels of mental health experts and professionals of Bangladesh. With their proper knowledge, hard work and goodwill, they are working directly to bring correct information to the common people. Now a day’s people are more interested in receiving various information about mental health and are able to understand the importance of mental health treatment. Moner Khabar's media section will continue to work in the days to provide up-to-date, correct and necessary information to people all over the country. On the other hand, understanding the importance of mental health, people are more interested than before in taking mental health services. But due to economic difficulties, problems of transportation system or lack of necessary specialists, it is still not possible to reach the mental health services to most of the people. About 92.3% persons with diagnosable mental disorders are not receiving mental health management or treatment in Bangladesh which is noticeable.

For that purpose, Moner Khabar is launching a service section named MK4C. Various trainings on mental health will be provided through this service section. We want every person in the country to enjoy their personal, familial and social life to the fullest. For proper quality life and for enjoying the meaning of life needs to have a good, sound and proper physical, mental and spiritual health. The journey of Moner Khabor towards that goal will continue forever. We will try to provide every mental health related service to the people within the country or abroad.

We want to utter again, Moner khabor is `all about mental health’, মানসিক স্বাস্থ্যের সবকিছু।
